We're Expecting 12w5d

Yay, I'm pregnant and due in June. We had our first ultrasound December 3rd to figure out exactly how far along I am. I was so happy to hear that I was 11 weeks and almost done with my first trimester. I actually cried when I saw the little peanut on the screen moving around. We've been through so much and I just want this pregnancy to make us parents.

We started telling our coworkers and friends this week, because I didn't want them to figure it out on their own (I had to start wearing my bella band with my pants unbuttoned this week). Last night I actually stayed up until midnight playing wii with Dave, Andy and Brooke, could this mean I finally have more energy? As far as the pregnancy symptoms go I guess I'm lucky, I never had the pukey "morning sickness". Instead I always feel icky after eating dinner. And the only thing I ever want to do in the evenings is lay on the couch and watch TV. Hopefully things will get better as I transition into the second trimester. Wow, second trimester is almost here!

North Shore Getaway

Last weekend we took a trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior. Dave had never been to Minnesota's North Shore so it seemed like the perfect place to go for our anniversary trip.
Although Dave said he wanted to have a relaxing not "go-go-go" weekend, he allowed me to plan our activities (I'm the one who always wants to be busy on our vacations). Saturday we went to the Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls and biking on the Gitchi-Gami trail. Oh and of course we had to check out the 3M museum in Two Harbors. We even got $2 off our entrance fee for being 3M employees; our benefits are so plush... After all those activities all I wanted to do was go back to our room and relax. Thankfully we had a kitchen in our suite, so we bought a frozen pizza, some beer and a deck of cards and spent the rest of the evening in our room.

Sunday was all about hiking. It was a beautiful sunny day. First I took Dave to shovel point at Temperance State Park. It was cool to take him out to where I had been lowered over the edge of the cliff and then had to climb back up (yes I was a rock climber at one time). Then we went to Carlton Peak. We ate lunch in the spot were I had set up many climbs when I worked at scout camp. The colors weren't really peaking along the lake shore, but once we got up on the peak you could see the fabulous colors inland. Then we went to Britton Peak. The trails were very crowded, but the views were well worth it!

Monday we decided to just head back to the cities to get Brockway from my parents house and get ready for the week. Along the way I convinced Dave to go shopping at some furniture stores. I really want new master bedroom furniture and a sectional couch for our family room. I didn't find anything I really liked, but I've narrowed the search even more. So now it's back to the daily grind of work. If only all of life could be vacations.

I have a Problem

I have a problem. I just completed my first triathlon just over a week ago and since then I have signed up for two more and a 5K! I guess I'm in the mood to race this summer. So I ran the Buffalo tri in an hour and 35 minutes. July is the next race in Chaska, then I go to the UP for a the Copperman race in August. I really do love the cross training, ant the 15 lbs I've lost!

Last weekend was Steph's wedding. She was a beautiful bride. Friday night Cory surprised her by a pinning ceremony at sunset on the beach! How romantic...

Saturday was the wedding and we started out the day with Mimosa's while getting our hair done. Afterwards we actually had enough time for a relaxing sit down lunch in a nice restaurant. Then we got ready at the church and tried to stay out of the way of the fights between crazy church lady and the photographer! The day was really hot for Traverse City, (thanks for choosing a tea length dress Steph). Dave and I were so honored to stand in their wedding.

Dave and I got to perfect our Home Alone run through the airport in Detroit. We had a scheduled forty minute layover in Detroit. We landed ten minutes late, not a big deal we still had a half hour. We went to look at the screen for our terminal and hear over the load speaker that our flight was leaving ten minutes early. So our forty minute layover was down to only 15 minutes at that point. We decided to run for it with one other passenger from our flight. We had to sprint from one end to the other, under the tarmac and then back to the other end of the airport. The only way I kept up with the guys was by running on the moving walkways and yelling for people to get out of the way. Thankfully we made our flight and so did our luggage!

Oh No

This is scary. I've started a blog. Well Dave and I have been married for just over a year and a half. Last June we bought a house and moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. We have a nine month old puppy named Brockway.
