Tech Hockey

This weekend we took Adam to watch his second Tech hockey game. The Gopher's won, but it was still fun.
Adam woke up with a fever on Sunday, so grandpa came and played with Adam today. And he got to wear his Elmo shirt today!

A Newsworthy February in Wisconsin

Wisconsin has been in the news a lot lately. I'm impressed that the protesters are still at the capital fighting for the tenth day in a row. And I'm even more proud that my father and mother in-law were there last week fighting for their collective bargaining rights, even though Bob is retired and Denise will be next year. But I don't really want to talk about governor Walker and his crazy plans to bust unions. No I want to remember a happier time in Cheesesconsin, one that united the state instead of tearing them a part.

Don't you remember? The Packers won the super bowl?!?!

I put a side my Vikings gear and wore Dave's extra jersey :

Adam eating a cheese burger and flirting with baby Keira. He's just like his daddy when he pulls it out of the bun and only eats the burger.
Keira is going to be a heart breaker with these blue eyes:
Adam leading us in a cheer. He likes, "Go Pack, Go!"
Brockway has the Precious Moments eyes down. I'm not sure why she didn't get any chicken wings:
Leinenkugels Limited- one little sip and I'm in love. I can't wait to be re-united in two months:
Brockway and Croix just really wanted to share our food:
Look at my ruggedly handsome happy mountain man.
I believe the quote was, "I can't believe we just won the Super bowl!"

Wipe that look of your face!

So I've been asked the same question over and over again lately in different variations. When are you do? How many weeks do you have left? And when I answer that I'm 30 weeks and I have 10 more to go most people get an "oh my goodness, you poor thing" look of pity on their face. Yes I have a big belly, but I also have an extremely short torso. My little baby boy has no where to go and grow but out.

I know that this same scenario happened over and over with Adam's pregnancy, too. With him from 30-40 weeks my baby bump looked nearly the same size. Then at the end of my pregnancy I got comments like, "you're belly isn't that big for only having a few weeks left". And maybe they were just being polite, but being told your huge with that look of pity isn't exactly going to help me get through the next ten weeks!
A big thank you to a coworker I hadn't seen for a long time that asked the dreaded question, but had the perfect response, "Oh you look great for 30 weeks. The only place your carrying that baby is in your belly." (as opposed to having pregnant looking arms, legs and face). Hearts and flowers to you!

I've given up wearing my watch and ring. They still fit, but they don't feel comfortable after a couple hours at my desk.

Happy Valentine's Day

We're in Kenosha visiting family. We flew in on Friday night and Adam traveled great even though the flight was after his bed time. First thing we noticed on Saturday morning the cousins are on complete opposite schedules. Their naps don't line up at all, but with Adam only taking one a day it's not too hard to plan around it.
Saturday we went to Titus's alumni basketball game. Adam loved watching basketball. The boys wore matching warm up suits- so cute. Grandpa Bob and Grandma Denise met us at the game. Grandpa Bob and Adam ran all around the gym in between games. They had way too much fun. After the game we went out to dinner at 8:30! Again way past Adam's normal bed time, but he was in such a good mood. He fell asleep almost immediately in the car on the way home.
Sunday's plan was to go to Chicago to visit Matt and Shar and maybe go to a museum. Adam woke up super crabby Saturday morning that he needed a morning nap. Museum's don't stay open very late on Sundays, so we abandoned that idea in favor of a laid back day of just visiting. We walked from Matt and Shar's to a German restaurant in their neighborhood for dinner. I figured the place would be dead. To our surprise walked in to a packed restaurant with live German music. After dinner Adam wanted to be on the dance floor, and when a slow song started to play and a bunch of people started to dance he asked me to dance with him. So I picked him up and swung him around on the dance floor. We waved and his dad and aunts and uncle and it was such a sweet moment. My little valentine!
Monday we went shopping and had a coffee break at Starbucks before going to watch Titus coach a basketball game. After the game we put Adam to bed and then I cooked valentines dinner- garlic shrimp, pesto tortellini and asparagus. Dave and I ate first, because Ann and Titus were taking care of James, then we took over James duty and let them eat all alone. It was nice to sit down to a home cooked meal just the two of us. Definitely a special valentines day!

I made the boys little tie shirts for valentines day and to specifically wear to the basketball game.

Future Rink Rat

Here is my excited son when dad decided to turn on the Wild game. He was yelling "Hockey, Hockey, Hockey!" And then he wanted downstairs to get his hockey stick. Dad is still hoping he'll play basketball, but we live in Minnesota- the State of Hockey!

28 Weeks

Well we made it to the third and final trimester. You are still small enough to easily move about- rolling, flips and snow angels. It's hard to focus at work when there are uncontrollably large movements going on in my abdomen, so I just smile, put my hand on my belly and enjoy being the only one aware of you. I have long lists of things that need to be finished before your born, but there should be 12 weeks left, three long months to get that stuff done. We're taking one last family trip to visit our siblings this weekend. Kenosha and Chicago here we come!

Super Bowl Weekend

Wohoo- Super Bowl Sunday! What I really mean is - Football Season is Over! On Friday dad dressed Adam in his Packer shirt because the Packers are in the super bowl. When we picked Adam up from daycare he was in a dinosaur sweatshirt and flower pants (spare daycare clothes). Emily, Adam's teacher said he purposely dumped his milk all down his shirt and pants. Emily is a big Steelers fan, so should we trust her explanation?
Yesterday we bundled up and met Andy, Brooke, Croix and Max at the park to play in the snow. Croix and Brockway wore themselves completely out racing and play fighting, while Max sat and patiently watched.

Today we're hosting a Packer Super Bowl Party. So far Dave is keeping his hyperness in check, I'm not going to hold my breath that this will last real long.
