Superman Doesn't Go To Bed

"I'll wear my Superman Pajama's and Eli can wear his and then you can take pictures." Great idea Adam. Eli hammed it up the whole time saying "Cheese" and making sure his brother didn't get in between him and the camera. And then when we were all done Adam told me, "Superman doesn't go to bed!" Ha.

Mr. Eli is still backward facing in his carseat so I have a mirror on the back of the seat so I can see him on long drives. Today when I was putting Eli in his carseat he saw himself in the mirror and shouted, "baby"! I kept telling him no that's Eli, but he thought for sure he was seeing a baby! It's okay Eli, to me you will always be my baby.

North Shore

I told Adam we were going on a vacation late last week and his response was, "We're going to Algona?"

I told him no we were going to the North Shore of Lake Superior.

He then asked, "with grandma and grandpa?"

When I explained that it would just be the four of us he got upset because he wanted his grandma and grandpa to come with.  Cute.

Back in February we took our children to the UP for a vacation and Adam got to go cross country skiing for the first time.  My heart over flowed and I was an extremely proud mamma sharing a passion with my child. I got to have that feeling again on our mini-vacation. We took the boys hiking through the woods at Cascade River State Park. We had planned to put them on our packs to hike, but decided to let them try hiking on their own first. Eli made it all the way to the falls and Adam hiked more than a mile by himself. It felt so wonderful to be in the woods with my boys and sharing a place- the North Shore and a passion- hiking with them.

Eli sang a little song "Dee-dah, dee-dah" when he was hiking and Adam was pointing out the trippy things (tree roots) that were in the trail.

We had snack on a downed log and cuddled together on the top of lookout mountian while eating our lunch to survive the cold wind.

Twins Game

Our family went to a Twins game on Thursday night. So far both boys have gone to at least one game each season.  It was a late night, but I think they had fun!  We left at the top of the 8th inning.  The Twins were down 3-1, but Adam told us the game was over and the Twins won!  On the way home the Twins tied up the game and we listened to them get the walk off win in the bottom of the 10th inning!

Preschooler

Today is Adam's first day of preschool class.  I tried to get a picture of Adam this morning, but he was excited and being a big ham.
'

His daycare has a preschool class right at his daycare. On Wednesdays he and his classmates will put on their backpacks and walk into the preschool classroom which is right next door to his daycare room for learning. Last year the preschool was offsite and the kids took a bus there, but numbers are down so this year Adam will be attending preschool at the daycare center.

He was extremely excited when he got home.  He built a robot that was still at school and even had a worksheet that he had worked on.

Go or Stay

"Eli, do you want to go or stay?"

A soft little voice says clearly, "stay."

"Are you sure, do you want to go or stay?"

Again he answers, "Stay". And then he goes to get his shoes or bang on the door, because there is no way this kid is going to be left behind.

Labor Day Weekend

I signed up for a race in St. Paul September 1st thus sealing our fate that we would stay in town Labor Day weekend.  It was called Women Rock and it was a 10k, half and full marathon.  I was really considering the half, but ultimately decided I should run a 10k before I do a half marathon.  My goal was to finish in under an hour and I crushed my goal by finishing 56:38. The race itself was awesome.  It was fun to run with tons of women and I really enjoyed the 10k distance.  Now I'm really trying to get my courage and miles up for a half in October.  I haven't signed up yet, but I think I'm going to soon...
Our good friends took care of Brockway Friday night and then made us a wonderful supper on Saturday night when we came home from the cities.

The rest of the weekend was just relaxing around Hutchinson. Sunday after church and naps we went to Fort Ridgely for a little hiking and playing.

And on Monday we took a bike ride for ice cream and then played at the park by our church.

The 2nd Half of Vacation

I never finished posting the second half of our trip from Algoma- which was about a month ago.  Whoops.  On Sunday there was a band concert and fireworks.

And on Monday we traveled to Greenbay to meet up with Uncle Titus for a little Packer practice, tour of the field and then Bay Beach amusement park.
I like how the girls are all smiling for the camera and the boys are sucked into football.

And our last day of vacation we went to the beach one last time before getting in the car for the long drive home.

Happy Adam+Eli Birthday to my Man

Today my husband turns Adam & Eli old = 31.  I reused Adam's #3 candle and Eli's #1 candle to make Dave's breakfast turn birthday style.  I asked him what he wanted and he said PB&J- so each half held a candle. And tonight he is getting a well deserved night off to do a fantasy football draft with his Packer Buddies. Not what I would have planned, but it's what he wanted to do. What I had planned was to bring homemade cupcakes to his draft for him and his friends, but the restaurant vetoed homemade goods so his will just have to wait until he gets home.

Adam's gift is a wonderful homemade card with slissors and Eli's gift was peeing on the potty for the first time tonight!  Go ELI!  Happy Birthday Daddy!  We love you.
